Yesterday was my 25th birthday, I can’t believe that I am getting so old! The last year has been a crazy one and I have seen God do so many great things in my life. This was a big birthday for me, it seemed like growing up that I always thought I would have my life together by 25. The dreams I have in my heart would have come true by now and I would have a job, a house, maybe a kid and a husband. It was just something I thought about when I was younger and now that I have reached that age and have not accomplished any of that list it is interesting and challenging me to see what God has done. The places that he has brought me and the friends that I have made are worth more than I can explain and the experiences, the love and heartbreak, the laughter and tears were all worth it. I may not be where I thought I would be but I love where I am finding I am at.

One of my most favorite books  is called Bittersweet by Shauna Neiquist. It is her thoughts on change, grace, and learning the hard way, her writing style is engaging and her ideas on God are so beautiful and spot on. In this book she has a whole chapter on turning 25, the things she recommends you do and the grace you should have with yourself in this season. Here is a quote from this chapter that really inspired me on my 25th birthday, and what I want to somewhat become an anthem to this year of my life.

” Now is your time. Become, believe, try. Walk closely with people you love, and with other people who believe that God is very good and life is a grand adventure. Don’t spend time with people who make you feel like less than you are. Don’t get stuck in the past, and don’t try to fast-forward yourself to a future you haven’t yet earned. Give today all the love and intensity and courage you can, and keep traveling honestly along life’s path”.  Shauna Neiquist

I want to continue to walk closely with those people who inspire me to be better. I want to walk with God everyday through this grand adventure and enjoy every second of it. I want to live in the moment and have quality relationships with the people around me. I want my future to come naturally and in the right timing and not push myself into a “future I have not earned”. I want to grow more into the woman I am meant to be and prepare myself for the day when some of those dreams come true. I want to take each day in this 25th year and be courageous, honest, loving and walk along the path before me with grace.

Thanks for celebrating my birthday with me yesterday! The comments and messages made me smile, I am so blessed to have all of you in my life! My lovely friend Megan Couser took these fun pictures of me. You may not know this, but one of my FAVORITE treats is ice cream, especially from our local shop Sweat Peaks. So we thought it would be fun to take some pictures of me enjoying my birthday huckle\berry ice cream!
